Data dating: Valentine’s Day 2012

With Valentine’s Day today, we wondered if our data could help you get a date.

If so, you’d probably want to improve your chances by fishing where the fish are – in this case the site that had the most potential dates. For the week ending the 4th of February 2012 we have the below:

The top 10 sites had more than 6 million visits between them, with Oasis, RSVP and PlentyofFish almost 4million themselves – definitely a great place to start.

That said, it’s all about whom you want a date with, or in this case, which gender.

Looking at the gender splits, Oasis had the most Male use in the last 12 weeks and RSVP the most Female.

Now that you know which site has the gender you’re interested in, you’re probably wanting someone in or around your age group – and hopefully you’re over 55, as it’s the baby boomers who are the highest segment of users of these three sites as we see below.

The 55+ demographic are using these three dating website twice as often as 18-24s when we look at Age groupings over the 12 weeks to the 4th of February 2012.

Finally, given everyone always seems to want a partner with a GSOH, we thought we better take a look at the Hitwise Entertainment – Humour Category and see who’s been visiting lately.

Click the attached if you’d like a peek at the breakdown, but if you’d like it straight up, then here it is: the heaviest users of Dating sites and the (apparently important) Humour sites are the 55+.

Experian Hitwise. Now you know.
